So what about fasting to drop some extra pounds before your wedding? There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, as long as you don’t go too long. It’s hard to tell exactly how long that is, and when you start seeing negative effects differs for each person. A smarter (and safer) strategy is to cut your caloric intake significantly, while still eating. Maybe you’ve heard of “negative calorie” foods or diets. There’s really no such thing, but the effect can be that your body has far fewer calories to burn, and ends up overdoing it a little. That means your net calories from those foods are negative. Fruits are good for this. Substitute fruit for some of the other stuff you eat that has lots of calories. Don’t dunk the fruit in caramel dip first! You can eat your body weight in apples and still lose weight, especially if they take up the stomach room donuts usually fill. Either fasting or cutting your calories way down is definitely a “crash diet.” Don’t do this too often. You probably can’t keep it up, which means you’re going to cheat, which will keep you from losing weight at all. That defeats your purpose. Always remember, it probably took you years to build up to your current weight. It at least took you months. It’s probably going to take just as long, or longer to lose that weight. As most weight loss interested consumers know it can get mighty confusing just trying to figure out whose hype to believe. And the fact is most people who try the latest diet or exercise program dont stick with the program and more often than not they not only gain the weight back they actually gain more than they originally started with. Probably the simplest and easiest way to lose weight is to increase your metabolism. So whats the easiest way to get that metabolism increase? The answer is easy because the key to any long term weight loss and then maintaining that weight is eating healthy foods. The first place to start when it comes to eating healthier is the grocery store. While this topic is seldom covered in many of the diet books and programs it only makes sense because thats where we get the majority of our food. They are also lower in calories, with most of their energy coming from complex carbohydrates. The thing to remember is if it comes in a box it should be avoided. The last tip when it comes to eating healthier foods is to beware of products that are labeled reduced or low fat. What happens is manufacturers take many of their high fat products and offer a reduced fat version that still contains an ample amount of fat. They will also replace the removed fat with a form of sugar that increases the calories of the product back to its original level. It is important to see how many calories a food product actually contains whether it is reduced fat or not. Another important distinction is the type of calories a food contains. If most of the calories comes from sugar or fat it should be avoided because these types of calories are almost instantly converted to fat stores. Why should we deprive ourselves of such simple pleasures?I am not ashamed to admit I like to eat and I enjoy the food I eat. I like to prepare a meal, it is a pleasure to all my senses, the smells in the kitchen are pleasures to my nostrils and the results are a real feast to the palate. I am not mentioning my love for food to excite you on the subject of cooking. I am mentioning it because eating should be a delightful experience. There is no logical reason why there should be so many kinds of fruits, vegetables, grains, and nuts if we were not supposed to eat them, enjoy their taste and be grateful for Mother Nature miracles. I believe the problem is more what we eat and how we eat. We do not eat anymore mostly fresh fruits and vegetables. We eat too much refined and processed foods. All this refinements and processing strip the nutrients from the food. Most of the goodness of our food is gone. Raw foods are richer in nutrients, especially organically grown fruits and vegetables. Cooking at high temperature destroy some of the nutrients such as enzymes and vitamins. I do not believe in diets where you need to count calories and starve yourself. Unless you have a will power of steal, this is doomed to failure. It is against human nature, even your body will rebel. I do not believe in stuffing ourselves either. Food portions should be moderate. Quality food rich in nutrients will satisfy our appetite and will boost our energy. Crash diets are messing with our metabolism. This is the biggest mistake to avoid if you wish to lose weight. Our body is very efficient and very sophisticated. If the body feels that the quantity and the quality of the food we eat is not sufficient for its daily functions, it will automatically adjust itself and the body will presume starvation time has arrived. Because food is in short supply the body will slow down its metabolism. The body will store fat for lean times. The body will shift to survival mode. It will use less calories and burn less fat. You will achieve exactly the opposite result than you hoped for because your body will adapt to the lower food intake. Until proper quantity and quality of food is eaten, the lower calorie diet will become the norm. Your body will fight back and will not permit any weight loss. Why aren’t most diets giving any permanent results?From my experience diets: Lack the proper nutrients which food should provide to satisfy your hunger and feed your body. Do not address the psychological side of weight loss. Lack self motivation. Do not correct our eating habits. They can be very frustrating. It should be a holistic approach. It should nourish both our body and our soul. While our body size decreases not only our body size changes but we as a person change as well. It is a body and mind change. It should be a life style change. We need to fuel our body with proper food. Our body needs food rich in nutrients, the nutrients that feed our cells, the nutrients that will help heal our body of any deficiency.We need to enjoy our food and to nourish our body at the same time. We need a balanced nutrition that avoids refined and processed foods. We need more fresh vegetables, whole food and grains. By Charles White Have you ever thought why fishing timbers is so productive? Well, for one, most anglers don’t want to fish them because they’re afraid of losing a $5.00 lure. This makes it better for us that are willing to take the risk. Sure, you get those who will throw a spinnerbait on the top of the timber but the fish are in the timber. You need to throw crankbaits or pitch a tube or jig to catch the fish. Most of the fish never see a spinnerbait. Also everyone knows that the bass will use that cover to break free if they can, again losing a lure in some cases. So, how do you know where to fish in a lake full of trees? Well, you don’t pay attention to the trees to start with and look for structure below the surface. Creek channels are a good place to start. They are the freeways for bass. Look for points, road beds and bends. In the spring look for spawning areas. So, the first step in fishing trees is to use your topo map and depth finder. Once you fish an area throughly, then use the map and depth finder to find other places like where you caught fish. You will want to pay attention to the season too, different patterns for different seasons. Find cover that hold a variety of cover not just one type. Trees that have vegetation nearby, different types of trees, trees by drop-offs are are good places to fish. If you have all standing timber and see one tree laying down in the water, then by all means fish the laydown throughly. Pine trees aren’t really a good place to start, maybe they give off a scent but bass don’t seem to like them very well. On the other hand cedar and oak are both good trees to fish. Try fishing with a squared lipped crankbait that will reflect and have erratic movement when it hits something. Try flippin and pitchin a jig or tube. Get down to where the fish are, if you’re not getting hung up, then you probably aren’t where the fish are located. Once you start catching fish in timber then pay attention to the depth you catch the fish at, most of the time they stay in the same depth range in timber.
